Ruth Geneslaw's work is a reflection of her observations on contemporary life. The carved wood vignettes serve as vehicles for the exploration of social, political and environmental themes. She seeks to address the hypocrisy, ambivalence, contradiction and hubris of events that touch our lives. The scenes convey both humor and pathos, thus reflecting the yin/yang of life.
Geneslaw is an award winning artist who has exhibited throughout the United States including the Newark Museum, Montclair Museum, Hopper Art Center, and the Katonah Museum. She is the recipient of two fellowships from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and a grant from the Empire State Crafts Alliance.
